About
Algérie Verte is a national civic movement founded in 2013 by Fouad Maâli, an environmentalist from Batna. Under the motto "Green, if God wills it," the association transformed reforestation into a mass civic act.
Starting in Batna, the movement has spread to all 58 wilayas, organizing planting campaigns in urban, peri-urban, and forest areas. Its landmark actions include the "1 million trees in 24 hours" challenge (October 2025), mobilizing thousands of volunteers simultaneously across the country, and the February 2026 campaign aiming for 5 million trees.
With over one million followers on social media, Algérie Verte has become Algeria's largest environmental civic community. It works in partnership with the General Directorate of Forests, local communities, and educational institutions.
